I've never been interested in running a road marathon, but I've run 1 and attempted another trail marathon. After doing 50ks, it was an absolute blast! My criteria when judging races is beautiful views, incredible atmosphere, great aid stations, varied terrain, and how fun it would be for my crew.

Good stuff. I'd love to see you do top 5 lists for trail marathon races, sub- marathon trail races and various ultra distances.

Shout out to Valencia and maybe Pikes Peak for being a bit different?

Great list! Of course very subjective. I always put my name in several of these lotteries, but - no London (again), Berlin (lottery in December), Boston, Tokyo, NYC (not fast or wealthy enough). Races are getting so expensive these days, I'll probably stick to the MCM and some local trail races.
