"Free yourself" is said by other people to the protagonist, as Anuv said. They want him/her to free himself/herself from the burden that he/she carries and move on in life. The protagonist replies to them that he/she doesn't want to forget his/her love and even if he/she wanted, it's not possible.

Here, light is the literal translation of "noor". But the protagonist means that their beloved has this out-of-this-world glow. They're so bright and beautiful, they stand out.

I tried translating it as literally as I could while also keeping the essence of the song alive. Since English and Hindi are two different languages, it's hard to translate every word literally. I tried my best. Hope this helps!

Saddest day of my life. My girlfriend and I have decided together that we are not gonna be together anymore because my family doesn't want interracial marriage. I respect and love my family and she knows. I also don't want to take her away from her family because she loves them a lot. We knew this 2 years ago when I introduced her to my family, and they rejected her in a month. So here goes nothing;
I was diagnosed with clinical depression at the age of 16 years.
My depression made me do things to myself and to the people around me that I'm not proud of, I was always tired, hated going to school and couldn't step out of my room, on days even my bed. Sleep felt divine because that was the only time I wasn't self conscious. It ruined me to the extent of questioning my existence.
My sad, abusive childhood contributed towards me not having a normal teenagehood and a horrible adult life.
Even after years of therapy and being on different medications, surviving felt like an obligation that I wasn't willing to do.
I had given up on myself, completely.
I didn't think I'd be able to live with depression for 6 years.
Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, months into years but the dear friend had a tight grasp on my neck.

This new year's, I promised myself to be a little optimistic. I always used to be the happy go lucky kid.
So, as the first of January approached and I cried myself to sleep yet again, as the clock struck 12am, the beginning of a decade, I promised no one but myself to be happy.
I'm not saying it'll be easy. Hell it's been merely 9 months and I feel like I'm already falling apart but I guess there's a tiny part of me which still hopes.
A hope that maybe there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
A hope that maybe I'm not a victim of my past but one of God's warrior that never gave up fighting all the obstacles thrown her way.

I don't know who you are or what your story is but if you've made it this far, keep holding on, know that you aren't alone and believe in yourself that you'll make it through the storms.
