Lions and tigers have to eat meat to survive. We humans have a choice in the matter. As for animal sacrifice, there is no reason why an infinitely powerful God would benefit from the activity.

There is no need for sacrifice. It was added to impress our own selves, our own conscience so we would feel the magnitude of loss of a beautiful precious sentient being which we were guardians of, which we led to green pastures and watched in fondness, play and grow. With the sacrifice of the animal as a substitution for our guilt of sin, God apparently accepts it because it hurt us to do this, to cut it bleed it unto death. I suppose because we once had a closer connection with nature, it meant something to us, impressed us but today animals are not loved, are abused and disrespected, tormented in settings of crowded living quarters and it's just a desecration to God and his planet what we do to these dear animals today.

The amount of pain, misery, fear, and suffering an animal goes through during the slaughtering process is just incomprehensible!

Minerals, plants and animals have no choice, but we us humans have a freedom to choose compassion towards animals.

So animal sacrifice is no longer in practice. How is sin dealt with in the modern day?

You didn't really explain the purpose and the need for sacrifice. And what about those who sacrifice human beings? What is the difference between human sacrifice and animal sacrifice?

this is so much better than any priest or preacher (christian) ive ever heard. when you aren't burdened with an inescapable dread of a horrific burning afterlife i suppose you can actually think about religion and existence without just fear

To be honest I have never felt it ok for any animal to eat another animal..I'm a retired veterinary tech of over 23 years..Ask yourself why does that have to be in our nature or animals nature...because I don't get it...

Dear rabbi the problem is not people sacrificing animals. The issue is why would a supernatural creator ask his creatures to kill animals for him to enjoy the sweet aroma of the burning flesh as mentioned in torah.

Think about it if there wasn’t anything to eat, just humans and plants. What would we be eating or sacrificing?
