That's great that charcoal worked well, much better than the wood pellets! Thanks Mark!

Thanks Mark for letting us know that you CAN still burn Charcoal in woods during a fire ban, I did NOT know that was the case.
Ya learn something new every day !!

that natural maple charcoal is the best to make heat - trick I've found to to build the mount. but in your stove that's fine. When I use it for dutch oven, I have to build up a mound then disperse once it gets wet. I love that fact that this won't leave as much ask as briquettes.

Charcoal is a great option for the stove, nice test Mark!

I just saw this on amazon in 3 variations the stove by itself, the stove with a prep surface table, and the stove with the table and some extras. The stove n table combo seems the best choice for me and its only 72.99! Looks like a great purchase!!

Hi Mark....
Another informative video thanks, i'm a HUGE fan of using Charcoal however, i'm NOT a fan of this stove.
From videos i seen, including yours, it just DON'T strike a tune with me, but that's just me.
Keep em coming Mark.
💯👍🤝

Thanks for posting. I've given some thought to charcoal and, if you have the time, it would be great for long events like cooking beans or slow cooking a small portion of meat or stew.

Over in my country, firewood is almost impossible to obtain for a portable wood stove. But seeing your video gave me a bit of hope that charcoal can be used in wood stoves. Now i need to find a backpacking wood stove that can go multi-fuel..

Mark, the folding knife and butane lighter looked interesting; perhaps you could discuss them in a future video?

Well since the charcoal works well, one benefit is if you take it to a camp ground. When I go I do bring briquettes if there is a fire ban. Also I go in the morning to the empty campsites with a big burlap bag I can use to collect the leftover half burned wood in the fire rings that camper left behind. Even on a campfire the half burned logs always are my preference for cooking breakfast and fresh logs for a campfire to sit around and watch snap, crackle and pop. But good to know that they work in a stove. Maybe use that next time I camp with my gasified or twig stove. Just chop up the pieces to fit with my hatchet. You’ve given me some good ideas

Charcoal seems to be the answer, great series of reviews

Thanks for posting. Might be a option for places where you can’t collect wood.

good test I could see the hardwood charcoal working much like the wood you used in the first test the way this stove is designed over the pellets

Well I think you've finally found out what works best with this stove Mark!

Well Mark, so far you have a very expensive and very small barbecue grill. Or a very expensive and very small smoke signal generator. LOL... Apparently the designer of this piece of (fill in the blank) did not test the design very well. Let's see what we can do to save this sturdy looking table from the junk pile... 1. Enlarge the hole in the table to be able to fit an alcohol stove. 2. Make the little nubs that your pot sits on a little higher. (needs more testing to find out how high). 3. Rip out the bottom of the burn chamber and replace it with a mesh screen (like the Solo stove has) and a barbecue grill type damper. Once that's done, you should have something worth testing. Patent Pending.

Speed boil time is the last thing on my mind when I'm out in the woods. I'm in the woods to relax so time is not a issue for me.
That's one reason I am steering away from the noisy butane and using my Trangia alcohol stove..

I wonder If you can use the nCamp with a alcohol burner or does the design not warrant that usage?
