I need to add another comment here.
I believe that LLM’s(AI) are tools made with a purpose. I believe cultures have different and more complex purposes than LLMs. To say that one specific culture should be included more for a tool with specific purposes in mind. You need to have a reason that it would be useful to include. For example if I was making a chatbot to help me write raps, I would 100% include my favorite and most inspiring lyricist. And in order for the program to be better at its purpose it would be useful to include a lot of black poets and writers. That being said, I believe the point of communication is effectively and efficiently passing on ideas and feelings. In the spoken language we use short terms to be efficient. Writers use the words needed. I’m not sure how to make my point complete (I am a bad writer myself) but I don’t think he backed up why it would be useful for example; to have chatgpt try to interpret a short hand spoken language, when it’s purpose is to make clear and universally digestible answers to the questions it is asked.

I think he's saying that literary contributions to popular culture and even academia need to be reconsidered. The stories told through our language patterns are undervalued and underappreciated.
