Years ago they called the Hangtown jump the “Fly 150” for being 150 feet. Tomac and the boys were clearing 180 feet! Still the biggest jump I’ve ever seen.

Nice video but you got a few things wrong. Hangtown’s big jump WAS the Fly 150 and it’s long gone after just one year. Glenn Helen’s Mt St Helen is the the hill climb to the right of the first turn and not the big jump in the valley heading towards REM. There’s lots of speculation about LaRoccos Leap. I believe the truth is Mike Larocco had a huge step up jump on his home practice track and he helped the Red Bud track builders recreate it then test jumped it on his 125 by bypassing the turn before it and instead using a long runway straight to it. Now the current big jump is beside where the original was. Some commentators called it the Parking Lot Jump.

2:39 I've been going to Hangtown for years and never heard that jump called the "Hangtown Step-up". It was called the "Fly 150" because the jump was supposedly 150ft in length and the FLY Racing banner was setup at the take-off jump.

No need to talk - each of these jumps speak for themselves. I can say that I have ridden at Red Bud, and back in the day it was not uncommon for Mike LaRocco to show up to one of the open practices. To be on the track when he is also on it was nothing short of amazing (for Mike it must have been a pain in the butt) I can tell you that Mike was always very nice to everyone, and everyone loved the guy.

So out on one of the laps I spotted Mike and I followed him around the track (at a good distance) to the bridge jump and so i paced with Mike into the jump. I was aware of just how fast Mike was going here as well as where he was going to land and I have been coming close myself recently so I thought "this is my chance to do this jump right" and i fell in behind Mike.

We hit the face of the jump faster than I ever thought was smart or even possible. The bike took off and flew higher, and it just kept getting higher and higher! It seemed like it wasn't going to stop... Finally started coming down when I got scared about where I was going to land but we hit a downslope and it was... smooth! I mean it was a hit but I thought it was going to be like jumping out of a 10 story window.

The jump spanned a good 100' at least. The jump takes off as a tabletop which was a camelback shape so there was the tabletop downslope and a then a second, lower one, BUT that was not all, there was yet another drop down that was also part of this section and that is where we landed!

I am so grateful that i had this opportunity and it created a memory that still feels like it just happened now butt it was over 15 years ago that this took place! Mike, was for sure a great guy that took some time to chat with people. But people largely left him alone, we all respected his time and space and did not try to "race" him, that would have been dumb for all but a rider or 2 there that day.

The thread photo, Kehoe ? With a huge launch with McGrath chasing him to the finish.
My Dad lived in Gainesville and I flew down there for the 1996 race. Stood right in that spot for most of the day ( because of this photo). Went back a few days later and got a small container of dirt from the face of that jump to bring home to Seattle 🤷‍♂️

3:20 that literally describes every obstacle on the course Kingaroy Australia we were famous for a 90 ft triple table top back in the 90s ( at that point in time it was the second biggest jump in Australia outside of the ORANGE NSW Supercross TRIPPLE ) ...and lets not forget the 160 F tabletop that was out of Black Duck Valley ride park ... and last but not least the night of records at Ipswich trigger gum only Jump 267 ft 3 weeks later on the four-wheeler ramp we were jumping 240 on feet black duck once again ...

I will never understand why the horrible TV coverage never shows how awesome this jump really is.

Some others I'd throw in,

Henry Hill at Budds Creek. Of course made famous for Doug Henry's huge crash in 1995. This was also where the famous "Bubba Scrub Photo" was taken several years later.

The O' Mara Leap at Maggiora. We all remember seeing O-Show flying his little Honda CR 125 over the top of this massive hill on those videos of the 1986 MXoN. This was also where he passed Thorpe late in the second moto.

The Natural Double at Walton MX. One from the Canadian Nationals.

I'd also throw in the Kawasaki Elevator/Staircase Jump at the old Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ.

The jump that you were showing at IronMan Raceway is not the Godzilla jump. You’re showing the Skyscraper jump. Godzilla is the uphill tabletop and turns back to a downhill tabletop in the frame behind literally where the inflatable Godzilla is.
