Entergy representatives said Hurricane Ida has been the worst storm yet when it comes to the damage to their system as they work to restore power to residents.

Finally able to take full stock of the damage caused by Hurricane Ida, Entergy Louisiana’s CEO called it one of the most devastating storms ever for the utility’s ravaged infrastructure.

“Incredibly, the number of poles damaged or destroyed is already more than we saw in Louisiana from Katrina, Zeta and Delta combined by a large margin,” May said Saturday.

We were without power for two weeks after Katrina...we had to sleep in the yard in a tent because it was too hot to sleep in the house. And the roof was damaged as well. We just had electricity back on for two weeks when Rita came through and messed everything up and destroyed the house....

We were without power during Rita for 3 weeks....some people were without for double that. It will all work out but it does take time. I appreciate all the workers doing the restorations. Prayers to all concerned.

Tell you what I feel for the people there.. we got hit with Wilma here in WPB, FL and even though it came clear across the state from the SW it knocked out our power for 11 days. same problem the transmission towers were taken down. The stations didn't have any power to pump fuel even though they had full tanks. didn't do US any good! I was also a lot younger then so I broke out the chainsaw and tackled our property. but I can NOT do that anymore. yeah hurricanes are a young man's silly game. however the problem is we don't stay young forever.

The dates they are giving are never going to be met, it is impossible. Look at the shear number of poles and transformers that must be replaced. Many of these have to be made....you can't just go to the electric supply and buy them. This is going to be months and months.

People expect this to be done in 2 days try 2 months. I understand their anger but the devastation is unreal.
