JOHN WAYNE CASSEROLE:
1lb ground beef
1 onion, diced
1 pkg taco seasoning (and required water)
1 can diced tomatoes (You can use rotel)
1 can diced green chiles
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 jumbo can of biscuits (or little biscuits or crescent rolls or bisquick)
1 container whipped cream cheese with chives
1/2 cup mayonnaise
Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Cheddar cheese, shredded
Salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder

Preheat oven to 325F. Cook your ground beef and diced onion until the meat is done and the onions are soft. Add the minced garlic and cook another 30 seconds. Drain. Add the tomatoes, green chiles, taco seasoning and water and cook until the water is absorbed. While the meat mixture is simmering, place your canned biscuits into a greased 9x13 pan and press them into a solid layer. Bake for about 10-12 minutes. They won't be completely done. While those are cooking, mix together your cream cheese, mayonnaise, about 1 cup of each shredded cheese and your seasonings. Mix well. Once your meat is ready and the biscuits have cooked for a bit, pour your meat mixture over your biscuits. Spread out evenly. Layer on the cheese mixture and spread as evenly as you can. Top with more cheese...as much or as little as you want. Bake for about 30-40 minutes or until biscuits are done and cheese is completely melted.

What a great video! Brings back memories. Momma and I used to make something similar and called it biscuit casserole. Instead of taco seasoning, we made it more like sloppy Joe style. Meat, onions, bell pepper, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire, pinch of brown sugar, seasoning, and garlic. We just did cheddar and mozzarella on top, but I love the idea of a cream cheese layer!! It was always better the next day, but only heated in the oven to keep that crispy crust! Can’t wait to try your version!!❤

Looks yummy 😋 I would just omit the mayo, because I’m a Mayo hater 😭😂, but it looks delicious!
