He looked like he was preparing to hit/take the hit, then instead he lowered his position and put himself in a vulnerable spot. Should not be suspended in my opinion.

didnt look intentional. I believe he expected a shoulder to shoulder contact, but Tolvanen got low to play the puck

If you watch the video it's clear that Tolvanen was leaning to his right and lowering his position when Spurgeon makes the hit. To me, it looks like Tolvanen was attempting to avoid the hit by getting on his edges and trying to move to the right while still being able to play the puck. A penalty? I'd say yes. Intentional? No. Fine? Maybe. Suspension? No. Spurgeon has 120 PIM in the past 11 seasons. He's not a dirty player by any stretch.

Spurgeon is 5’4” and this dude crumbled like he got hit by a freight train because he had terrible positioning. So punish Spurgeon for getting a good angle instead of the guy who put himself in a bad spot. Yea ok.

I got a boarding penalty yesterday at one of my games, I barely touched the kid and he threw his stick and dove. I got a 10 min misconduct and a one game suspension. It’s so stupid

Normally I’m super sensitive to boarding calls because I really appreciate the rule and the safety measures it implies.

I didn’t see boarding there. I didn’t think the Nashville guy’s distance from the boards when he received the contact was dangerous. Seemed like he was in the exact zone to be played into the boards safely.
