These are the new surf mounts that come with the GoPro HERO 2. If you have a look at the GoPro web site you will see that the Surfboard Mount has switched over to these as well. Do not ask me why but it is nice that you now get two for what you used to pay for one.

@jachamr39 I charge the battery in one of two ways:
1) With the supplied USB cable plugged in to some sort of USB adapter like the one that is used to chard an IPhone
2) With an old Motorola mini USB phone charger that I had lying around. Any sort of mini USB charger will work.

It is rare that I ever plug my GoPro in to my computer. I use a card reader to down lode the video and then plug the camera in to the wall to charge.

@jachamr39 I should also add that you can of course plug the supplied USB cable in to a computer. This is the way that the manufacturer meant for the camera to be charged.

Thanks! Been using my new surf edition Hero2 (HumbleOutdoors $270 w/free SD cards) for two weeks now. My kayaking has taken on a new dimension.

The FCS fin mount works with an FCS plug which must be installed using fiberglass/resin. The mount is held into the plug with a set screw..exactly like many surfboard fins are attached. Alternative to the suction cup or adhesive.

If you want to use it for a lot other than surfing I would look at the outdoor or motor sports edition and than buy the surf mounts as an add on

When the HERO2 came out they changed them and put two mounts in the surf edition instead of one like the in the HERO1 kit.

@robertblonk No I have not had time to play around with it yet. I will try to get a video on it up over the next few days.

Thanks for watching

Yes the HERO 2 Surf Edition does come with the floaty back door but the HERO 1 did not.

Yes but only with the GoPro tripod mount it is about $7 and it does not come with any of the camera kits

I do not think so. I can’t say for sure I have not used them that much. I have not herd of many complaints of them falling off.

There is no difference in the camera or the cases. The difference is in the mounts that come with the kit. I would get the outdoor edition. I think that the mounts that come with it will be far more useful for what you are trying to do.

If you look on my channel you will find a tun of videos showing how to mount it. The HERO2 mounts in the same way as all other GoPro Cameras

I think that you could but because of the size of the mount and the fact that the helmet is curved I do not think that it would be a good idea.

@ashley48665

Would i be able to mount the GoPro to the top of a crash helmet using these surf mounts? I do karting and can get the Surf pack cheaper than the Motorsport pack so I'm wondering if I could use them mounts. Thanks!

this is kinda late but that is not a nose plug. it is to stop vibration on sticky mounts

@kylmartn101 have you figgured out yet how to use the thin (or fin?)-mount?

If i want a gopro for surfing and skating, longboarding, the hero 2 surf edition is the best choice?
