A note for everyone who plays WITH a Reinhardt on your team; make sure you're using your OWN cover! I've had a lot of games where I've held my shield up to help get teammates to cover, and when it gets worn down I move to the corner myself only to see people on my team stay out in the middle of No Man's Land and get picked off. The shield is an assist, it's not going to protect you forever. You have to use natural cover.

I came back to the game after 4 years. Before I was a flex main and in the thank category was only comfortable playing Orisa and Zarya. Yesterday I picked up Reinhardt for the first time and absolutely dominated for several games, mainly from watching OW streamers like Flats and Emongg. Took space when needed, backed up to regroup, played around corners, etc! It was some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing this game.

As a grandmaster 1 tank main, I think this is a pretty good analysis. I heavily advocate for extreme aggression with Reinhardt, but it's important to know when to slow down and help your team. If you don't help your team, they can't help you.

Great video man. I hit Masters 2 last season on tank and have been stuck at M5/4 this season unable to break out. I’m great at punishing enemy mistakes and solo fragging on tank, but I’m terrible at basing my plays off teammate abilities. With supports feeling better/having more impact this season, that mistake was being punished way harder and I had no idea.

That point you brought up with the Kings Row gameplay from yourself is almost definitely what’s stopping me from climbing out of masters this season. Goes to show that you can get pretty far up the ladder by mastering a few elements of your gameplay but still be missing pretty fundamental concepts.

People really underestimate the skill difference between masters and gm or gm and top 500 or even top 500 vs top 100. They’re each almost as large as the gap between bronze and plat imo.

thank you - I needed this. I tend to never know what is happening behind me as Rein- unless someone calls it out

I feel like the larger problem is attempting to play around having a tank with zero situational awareness. It's so much more severe with only one tank for the rest of the team if said one tank is a blithering idiot.

God I wish that the spectate/replay thing would let you check a setting to make "Spectated player's team is always Blue Team" - its so confusing every time when you watch someone on the red team and all their allies look like enemies, and all their enemies look like allies.. lol
(and fwiw, my setup is 'orange team is allied' and 'enemy team is pink', I like that orange HUD)

I feel like a lot of people want rein to be an anchor to shoot from behind but his shield is a selfish ability very rarely will you need to use shield selflessly. Next, Ram is a more neutral matchup to rein he has the ability to poke from range and a really good close range ability with most importantly speed. For all rein players the best two things to look for with rein to rank up from silver to low diamond/high is very impactful solo ults and very good firestrikes on low health targets. You should always look for corners and cover to play to maintain shield health.

Man just by watching this video, i have been playing rein super defensively instead of a tad more aggressive. im gonna give this gameplay style a shot

These are all things I know. There are all things I talk about but when the time pressure hits I need to remind myself of to keep at it. The bad habits you need to get out of the metal ranks are the same bad habits that will keep me from climbing in diamond. I need to get back to this. This was a very timely video to remind me of the fundamentals of smart Rein play

NGL blizzard needs to find a big creator and add a little video to the game teaching players how to learn to play together

OMG you can look around behind you as Rein. That is so sick. How did I never hear of that before?

Funny I just went from silver to plat on 3 accounts playing rein ONLY (even when bad teamates ask me to and being toxic). IN 3 DAYS ! 8-12 hours per account. I saw top #1 Bowie rein, Got inspired, and just go W most of the time while keeping an eye on cart/backline and the occasional back pin. Also CORNERS is KEY for rein. swing around it its insane how much value you can get !

Rein has always been an easy climb out of metal ranks. Now it's even easier.
