People don't realise that it was not just the slap but the husband's lack of regret which pushed the urge for divorce in her.. We have to look into the underlying layers of the film to understand that arrogant and insensitive mindset with which he brushes off the matter as trivial. His later apologies are mere trials to bring her back, without any realisation of the gravity of the humiliation that he has inflicted upon her. It is this attitude that results in their separation.

The fact that he showed zero remorse throughout, was unbelievable. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.

Love that each time the husband talks about the baby, its like the baby is going to be a boy. It's nowhere in his thought process that baby could be a girl... Shows how much welcomed a baby girl would be in his home, by him and his mother who is praying for a "pota".

When this movie came out everyone was like bas thapad hi to mara h.

Same in animal movie now they're normalising cheating and slapping.

And everyone is happily watching and approving it.

Movies like Thapad come out once in a while but movies like Animal make huge profits, thanks to our GREAT INDIAN AUDIENCE.

It's not the slap, it's the lack of remorse and realization that he never thought and would understand that he was wrong. In the end, it's about about her dignity as a woman and human. She was slapped in front of everyone. It's easy to swallow pain and even humiliation BUT it's hard to swallow your dignity. I don't know why but this movie reminded me of "The Overcoat" by Nikolai Gogol. It's a great story.

This very scene is more than enough to prove that its not "just a slap"

You could really see the true colours of the husband that came out when it came to fight fairly

Remembered how one of my friend was so pissed by the idea that why she made a huge deal from "just a slap". For her FL's husband loved her cared for her so that slap was nothing in front of it.
I just asked her "What if it was Amirta who slapped her husband in that party ? " My friend's answer was a Looong silence. Just a role reversal scenario and my friend immediately understood why the slap was a big deal. This is our society, so comfortable in a husband slapping his wife.

This man WAS SOO DISGUSTING. He slapped his wife and didn't say sorry...Instead, he GASLIGHTED HER AND PEOPLE AROUND and started playing victim when he was infact the perpetrator. Shame!

Never ever normalise cheating and domestic violence. It goes for BOTH husband and wife. Our previous generation has normalised it but WE have to be the cycle breakers.

If this is the behavior of the husband defaming his wife and he still has the audacity to fight her in court and if this is his demeanor, then it was not "just a slap"!it never was, It's completely right, the first expression physical violence is a journey of alot of red flags! If he was genuinely nice he would've never gaslighted her about the slap!if you don't end it the first time, let me tell you, it'll never end! because then you get into the abusive cycle and pattern of gaslighting and psychological manipulation that it'll be 100 times harder to end it

If my husband ever slaps me, I would react exactly like her! Somebody was like it’s just one slap. So what? Nobody has the right to hit another person

Will it be ok if it would have been the wife who slapped the husband under similar circumstances? If the answer is yes, only then advise the wife to forgive the husband.

Can’t believe this is a top comment… says a lot about our country, how they r willing to accept a slap in front of dozens of people.
