Keith Ward is a wetland ecologist, who works at the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority. This presentation focuses on his 23 years working in the Barmah-Millewa Forest and is entitled - "Evolution of water management and monitoring in Barmah-Milewa Forest. Barmah-Millewa Forest, the largest River Red Gum wetland reserve in the world, serves as a tremendous local case study of our changing focus on environmental values. The last two decades has seen a large shift in environmental consciousness and allocations of water to the environment due to very apparent changes in wetland landscapes and biota. Research and monitoring is now driving adaptive management, although more remains to be achieved. This seminar is part of the Murray Darling Seminar Series which is a collaboration between the Murray Darling Freshwater Research Centre, Charles Sturt University, the Murray Catchment Management Authority and the North East Catchment Management Authority. The series brings together the general community, landholders, scientists, local and state government, water managers, students and academics, to share ideas, learn and network.
