Quantum computers are barely programmable at this point. These prototypes exist just as experiments to prove the fundamentals of quantum computing. We’re a LONG way away from that, and probably a century or more away from quantum computing being available to regular consumers, if it happens at all. Quantum computers can’t scale like conventional computers. Your iPhone will never be a quantum computer. It is more likely that the first time you interact with a quantum computer, it’ll be via a thin-client device that connects to a quantum computer driven cloud where the actual computing occurs. Your end device will be used to simply remotely view the output and enter inputs.

Quantum computers are very much impressive. It is still in the early stages of development. It will make big hype for all.

I think Google, IBM, and China are still many years out from solving the complex and elusive solutions required to perfect this technology and declare Quantum Supremacy. Although progress is being made, I still think a lot of the information is hype. Even DWave's market entry is somewhat blurred. As classical computing is still capable of doing many of the calculations and permutations in the various applications. My best guess is that we are 5+ years out from really having a bono fide QC system. I think the "Noise" associated with this technology and its sensitivity makes all a bit far off. I look forward to the innovation, however, I hope mankind can manage the Technology in a fair and safe manner when we have truly reached this point.
