Law 101: How a Lawsuit Works

preview_player
Показать описание

Have you ever wondered how a lawsuit works? You’ll find out today!

It all starts with the complaint.

Then you can either answer or move to dismiss.

Next comes discovery the longest and most resource intensive part of the lawsuit.

After that come motions for summary judgment.

Then all the pretrial stuff including motions in limine.

If you get that far, then comes trial (very few cases actually get here).

Finally there is the appeal.

Episode Idea: How to find a lawyer

I have no clue how to find a lawyer other than randomly picking one out of a Google search. What should I be looking for? Is there a place to look up these lawyers? I have no idea what else to ask.

I thought a lawsuit was what you put on before appearing in court.

Could you do a video on each type of major lawsuit? Person vs person claims, Class actions, malpractice, defamation, How someone can win a criminal case but lose a civil suit, suing the state, etc. Also, maybe how to go about starting a civil suit. I know it's a bit much, but they would definitely help a lot of people.

I was on a civil jury about a year ago. The trial concerned a rear-end car accident and the plaintiff was suing claiming the defendant's negligence had caused him injury. One of the things that stood out to me was that the accident had occurred three years before the trial - it's interesting to watch this and get some kind of idea of what was going on during that time.

Objection! This video does not contain any Mathew McConaughey. If there is any justice in the world, you’ll do The Lincoln Lawyer. My god does it need to be scrutinized by you.

Requests:
Cartman vs Kyle -- Imaginationland trilogy (i.e dry balls [South Park]).
To Kill a Mocking Bird (if for some reason you haven't done this yet).

Really like how you've designed this chanel; simple style, fan group name (leagaleagles), doing films, jumping on popular trends, sponsorships. You've done all the smart things, quickly, that many youtubers take ages to realise. I'm guessing there'll be merch soon. Thanks for your hardwork (and smart work).
