I'm Finnish, and when I started studying Estonian it was the weirdest feeling, because up until that point I had _never_ in my life studied a language that was related to my own! It was really hard to shake the false familiarity and to see the language in its own terms. It was also the weirdest thing to realize that almost all other Europeans _exclusively_ study languages related to their own! How weird!

I love following your 2021 language journey from Cornish and Gaelic to Korean to Estonian. Glad you’re continuing Estonian to finish the app, looking forward to seeing the results at the end

Richard, I followed your month-long study experience with great interest. I greatly appreciate your energy and strategic focus. While I'm not planning to neither begin another language nor undertake an intensive 'challenge', your daily updates have inspired me to be more ambitious in my study of Thai, a language I have been learning seriously since the onset of the pandemic. And better still, my wife, a non-language learner, is now motivated to be more adventurous in her learning related to curriculum design for e-learning!

Hi Richard! Thanks for the great content! I am also subscribed to the speakley app. How often do you recommend that I use the review function?

Really looking forward to hearing your opinion on the App once you get to 4, 000 words.

I've studied Italian and German with Speakly and I love the app. However I had prior knowledge of both languages, took a placement test and started at BeginnerIII level. Would you advise using the app in a different way when not starting as an absolute beginner? Presumably by taking their example sentences and substituting other words you know in and out, and using their listening exercises much more heavily.

Hi Richard, I’m new to your channel but I have to say you are truly an inspiration from your learning journeys and experience! What tips would you have for someone who wants to do a similar challenge? I’ve watched your videos and I have an idea but I would greatly appreciate your tips, you are truly an inspiration to this journey :)

Hi Richard, thank you for making such useful videos!
I’ve been using Speakly myself for a few weeks with German, and it’s pretty challenging for me. I’m just sticking to 5 words per day too.
Can you say a little more about your revision method with the writing out of sentences? Do you stick to the ones you see on the app, and just keep trying to remember by repeatedly writing out & speaking them?
I feel that maybe seeing a sentence on the app is different somehow to seeing it on paper that you’ve just written it on?
I think I’ve read that students often retain information better when reading from a physical book rather than from a digital one, which is possibly related? I wonder if using a slightly more ‘physical’ way of writing with a pen is using different parts of our brains compared to typing.
I guess it’s all very individual, but I definitely think I need to improve the way I use repetition to make things ‘stick’ more.
Thanks for any thoughts you might have x
