There are 2 types of angora rabbits, those that shed and those you need to cut. The English and French angora can be spun from the rabbit. My friend had a German long hair and they need to be cut 3 times a year. There may be others that need to be cut, but that is the breed that I am familiar with. I have never spun just angora, I usually mix it with a merino. Have a blessed day and thanks for sharing.

Hello. please forgive me if i seem to be contradicting your video. That is definitely NOT my intention.
I have been and still am an Angora rabbit breeder for over 25 years, and your Angora fiber looks different to any Angora fiber I have ever seen.
First of: Angora fur, as it grows, always dilutes the colour down the hair shaft, it is not a solid saturation of one colour. A black Angora rabbit will be black when it is born and as it grows, the fur changes to a soft grey colour, but never solid.
Angora fur is a fiber that flies around the place, it does not stay in a solid mass like what the fiber you have, is.
I also noticed that your angora fiber has kinks and curls at the tips, Angora never has that. It will have very fine crimp reminiscent of exceptionally fine Merino, but never curls or waves.
I first thought that it was a very fine angora goat fiber ( mohair) which i have had and it looks very much like that, or a cria fleece, ( baby alpaca) which also looks exactly like the fiber you have.
Please don't think im being a know it all, im not. I just can't look at the fiber you have and not question it actually being Angora rabbit.
At this point in time, i am spinning up some of my own Angora fiber and it is flyaway, very crimpy and looks like dandelion seed heads, very fine, light.
Apart from all of that, you do a wonderful job of teaching and explaining your craft, just beautiful ❤

This is wonderful information to find while thinking about what kind of rabbits I want to get. I love knitting and my best friend loves crochet so rabbit yarn would be an awesome craft supply for us to work with! It would make such a cool scarf, blanket, sweater, or dress with the texture from the knots❤

I just found you. I have been looking up information on Angora Fiber and your Podcast showed up. Wonderful information! Angora is such a fine fiber I was wondering what brand of Combs you used to prep it?

Hi! I am hoping for my daughter and I to learn to do this! How do you prepare the plies to make the 2-ply? Also, can you please tell me what that music clip is when you show the finished yarn? I’m trying to play it on the piano, and am getting some of the notes, but not all. I’d like to look up the music! Hehe Thanks! ☺️
