20 Essential Travel Items for Women : Long Term Slow Travel

Join Sarah as she reveals the 20 essential travel items she will pack for her life of long term slow travel around the world. Not known for minimalist packing and never travelling light, this was a personal challenge for Sarah!

It was certainly fun for Sarah getting the suitcase out with all her vacation gear in, but she didn't realise there were so many items! Sarah is used to having a full 22kg weight limit when travelling on vacation but she is going to slim this down when packing for long term travel. It will be interesting to see whether, in her new world of minimalism, all of these items will actually travel with her or will some have to stay at home!

Look out for future episodes where we will be packing our backpacks for real travel and we plan to regularly review each time we move on from country to country - we are looking forward to learning from our own experiences and seeing how our travel packing evolves during our journey!

Enjoy watching! Let Sarah know in the comments below what your favourite essential travel items are and if you are interested in checking out any of the items included in this video, links are provided below.

If you haven't seen our first five videos, we would love it if you checked them out. Having followed the principles of FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early) we invested wisely, spent sparingly and formed a plan to escape the rat race and take on the world! Minimalism doesn't get any more extreme and we will leave the UK to seek adventure. If you want more content on FIRE - just let us know in the comments, this is our specialist subject and we may be able to help you do what we did.

Where we could find links to what Sarah walked through in the video, they are below. But if not we looked for good cost effective alternatives.

Douglas Adams approves of the towel. Massively useful.

Thanks for letting us take a peek into your luggage. I don’t think I travel with any of them so helpful to hear your explanation for each item. Go Sarah!

Curious...after a year plus of full time travel, which of these things are you still carrying and are there any new items you'd recommend? Would love an update on your essentials for women.

I must know! Did you use the Shewee? Is it essential? 😁

We’re in the planning phase for four years of full time travel. The first six months in South East Asia. Thanks for all the encouragement, information, and entertainment. We’ll treat you to dinner if our travels ever match up. 😊

Love the list I travel like you with most of the items you share. Two other additions I carry are dry shampoo and a foldable water bottle with a filter.

Neil, how about a top 20 on travel tech gadgets. Interested what you'll be taking with you not only for recording, but also for leisure. Will you be keeping any subscription services going like Spotify?

Great video. I hope you do one again in 6 months to a year and tell us what you’ve added to your list or removed from your list.

I must admit, I’m a bit disappointed you’re bringing a bottle stopper. 🤣🤣🤣

;Great list. I would add two more items: a Berkey bottle or some type of simple water filter/water sanitation device. I personally don't trust those UV light pens -maybe as a secondary sterilizer. If you do end up with travelers issues, an oral rehydration solution should fix you up quickly.

Great tips, I must admit I'd never heard of a female urine here in Outback Australia we just go out in the bush 🤣

pretty useless for me... but good for you if that is what you feel is 'essential'.

Very sad to see you recommending something SO harmful to the environment as the Travel wipes. Particularly after mentioning other products being kind to the environment. Love your vlog and will be following you all the way as we are currently planning to do the same, but please, please rethink this horrible wipes. x
