Earlier today I was thinking about how Purgatory is a gift from God and not a punishment like some people think.

Imagine yourself and in one scenario you die and enter into heaven unimpeded. Yet in another scenario you are judged to be in need of purgation. In the former scene you have been given greatest joy and all but the likelihood of that is so very remote that really few and perhaps only innocent children will comprise these fortunate souls. In the later you have been given a blessing, a joy not easily understood this side of deaths door. But imagine further this that as you are being purged for love of God that you watch while praying your loved ones all that may go onto their heavenly abode and you watch, and you see, and you suffer and you love and you endure and on and on until the heavenly host calls you forth and in that day of days you come into the Kingdom to embrace all in all. Yes it is the greatest joy.

I have heard different. That the pain in purgatory is intense and feels longer than it really is. The souls seek prayers from us to be able to go to heaven. Someone once told a story of when St. Michael was speaking to a soul who was in purgatory and a soul said how many years have I been here in purgatory and St. Michael responded by saying you have been here three days.

Purgatory is a good place, a place where we can truly be cleansed of all our attachments. I am not afraid of purgatory, and I thank God for Purgatory.

Since I discovered and following this channel, I started to request Masses at my Catholic Church for the deceased people that I know. As of reading other writings; I don't see souls being happy to be in purgatory. Some souls have appeared to saints asking for their prayers so they can be released. They are being purged of their past faults and they are willing it for Gods will.
They suffer and at the same time ache with a burning desire to see God.
