PERFECTION! And if I find a finger or two just - just off in timing for a passage, I take a measure or two and change the rhythm. Syncopation, then in 3s, etc. Just mix it up to get my old digits to execute those collections of notes as they should. Helps with the neuromuscular activity.

This is exactly the same advice I give everyone. But do I always do it? I’m just again refocusing on the Chopin prelude 18, measures 12-13. Got to first admit you’ve got a problem, before you can fix it.

Slow down enough to make no mistakes. Then, speed up the metronome one notch at a time. Don't use pedal. I totally agree, maestro. When I get the section fixed I back up a couple of measures.

The bigger question is, what do I do when I finally play something right in my piano practice. Celebrate. That's what I do :)
