The largest issue I've seen bracketing conversations of Empire, and observations, prognostications is that the shortening of the Empiric Cycle isn't taken into account, meaning, Empires rise and fall at an accelerating rate throughout history. This causes some aspects of the cycle to be either left out, or a blink of the eye passing effect. As the Cycle shrinks, the historical impact of Empire does as well. This means that the classic understanding of Empire is also going to be washed out to something that is not a 'material' measure. Empire will become Empire of Thought, or dominance of philosophy.

Great video, the potato example isn't entirely accurate however - it wasn't grown for export but as a subsistence crop for native Irish people in poor rural areas, as so much of the better land was being used to grow grain or rear livestock for export to Britain, and potatoes will grow in small patches of poor soil better than any other crop.

I can't help thinking about Afghanistan and the one cash crop that grows well there is opium poppy. Which the taliban Ban, for different reasons, but quite in line with the Progressive American Enclave Demonrat Oligarchy's backwards stance regarding such things.
