Venom - At War With Satan [Remastered] + Lyrics

This legendary Song brought me into Metal around 1983 and haunted the caverns of my mind ever since!

I first heared the Intro of that damn song as an Outro of the pre-runner album "Black Metal" and was a bit confused after I realized that this was not part of their album "At War With Satan"...

So I decided to GLUE together what belongs together - ashes to ashes and dust to dust, now it is complete like I always wanted to hear that song! Enjoy!!!

I remembered when this album came out in 1983. Smokin tree in my friends basement blowing our hits out the window hoping her parents wouldn't smell it.listening to this album on a loop. Bouta start our freshman yr in high school. Good times.

If it weren't for Venom and Motorhead, metal, especially thrash, would not exist as we know it.

Venom is the true essence of Metal music. Nowadays when I hear the word Metal the first band that comes to my mind is Venom.

The full re-edited version was included in their album "Skeletons in the closet". No idea why the intro was removed in the original album, though. It's awesome and should never have been removed!

I fell in love with this song in the eighties. I still listen to it often, especially when I'm getting ready for the gym. This is my go-to version of this song from Stian Thijsen. Excellent quality.

what alot of people don't know, is that the voice at 18:45 is an early supporter and fan of the band who lent his great vocal talents to this song. his name is James Earl Jones. giving the term "black metal" an even deeper meaning and duality.

Venom, unfortunately isn't a well know band anymore but they were a HUGE influence on "the big 4" for eighties and nineties.

I can't hear how this remastered version improves on the original production. I would say actually the original is better, i first heard it 30 years ago. I love the original for every little flaw and nuance you hear. The fact it was imperfect almost makes it perfect, and the rawness of it is more suited to a satanic frenzy than a more homogenised sound.

At last that original tin can production is gone! Epic!

We had a lot of religious soliciting in our neighborhood. My friend's mom was heavily involved with the Church of the Nazarene and a big metal, (Judas Priest) fan.

When the missionaries showed up at the house, she would break out her bible and compare and contrast with them. We played this album at full blast in the house as she conversed with them on the porch. She absolutely encouraged it. Love ya Fran. We were Beavis and Butt-Head /Wayne and Garth before they existed. Even had a Davenport.
