In this report, I cover the UK pensions deficit and how it is a problem that few want to admit exists. I also look at the Pension Protection Fund and how inadequate it could be if the financial system comes under pressure like it did in 2008.

Govt Councils Capita next I'm fighting to get my pension after Brent council reduced my pension omitting 16 years off my 22 years service ..I'm also being told I can't take my whole pot, despite the Govt announcing in 2015 that we could take our Pensions out ..Where has our contributions gone

One should feel sorry for the next generation. An economy in massive debt, grim future prospects, house prices at insane prices, broke geriatrics retiring whilst expecting national support.

Don't people get annual pension statements where you can check whether your scheme is looking to be getting into difficulty? My partner and I have always received these and we always take the time to read them. Forewarned is forearmed as the saying goes.

Hyper inflation on yield has happened. You simply need much more input to match the promises made.

Seems the world is heading for a madmax style crash but not fighting for water gold and silver instead 🤔

Stop creating the debt that is attached to money and none of these problems would occur.

I'd bet that underfunded/unfunded liabilities are worse in the US than the UK.
The Federal government can print money to cover their obligations. (The money may be devalued but they can meet their obligations in nominal dollars.)

BUT - Corporate entities, state, and local governments can't print money.
We have the same delusional set-up for private pensions - the "Pension Benefit Guarantee corporation." They are not funded by the government.
State and local governments can raise taxes and cut services to come up with money to try to pay pensions. Unfortunately for them - People Can Move.

Bottom line:The whole thing is untenable and will eventually result in a default on obligations. They've kicked the can down the road for years and might be able to continue that for more years. "Just because something is inevitable, doesn't mean it's imminent."
Only God when it will happen.
