Personal opinion :
If you plan to get serious about track days or start racing : go for R6. (Better handling, revvy engine, aggresive position, good suspension)

If you using your sportsbike for commuting and maybe do track days just couple times a month : go for zx-6r. (Cheaper msrp, more comfortable riding position, broader powerband, and more mid range grunt )

I've had the 2020 zx6r and now the 18r6. For me, the r6 is more comfortable on longer rides, more fun cornering and looks better. Only thing I don't like is when I get past 145 on my r6 it doesn't feel as stable as my zx did. I still do all the same shiet that I did on my zx, just with more fun. If you can find a 2017-2020 r6, I'd 100% go with that

R6 price inflated in the used market after Yamaha discontinued it. Not really worth to spend paper on it unless you have lots of money and just love the bike overall. ZX6r will probably be my next bike one day

ZX6-R is the best. Cheaper and more power. R6 has better forks, but 99% of riders will not use the R6 to its max potential. The ZX6-R will pull out of corners harder thanks to improved torque.

I am a kawasaki fan, but there are some downsides that are not covered in any comparison I have seen. ..
1. Valve adjustments are expensive and much more common on the kawasaki.
2. I can not speak about the yamaha, but I have had expensive reliability issues with the kawasakis.

Even though the kawi will blow its doors off in a straight line, in the handling department the yamaha is going to shine. The lighter (and where the weight is placed on each bike) matters as far as rider fatigue when pushing the bikes to their limits.

I like both bikes but when it comes to power I'll go with the ZX6R but the looks of the R6 is so sharp the only thing I like in the R6 us the tail light but when it comes to power and technology I will be choosing THE ZX6R
