Filipino filmmaker Girard Tecson’s relentless passion for storytelling took his short film, “This Moment,” to the Cannes Film Festival. The story recreates the hurdles of a young man living the same day over and over again until he makes the right choice. In his intimate short documentary, “The Gift of Life,” Girard describes the challenges of his Nepalese friend, Prasha Tuladar, who suffered from a rare disease that forced her to live with an oxygen tank until she received a lung transplant. Sadly, Prahsa passed away in 2019; Girard honors her legacy as a mother, a wife, and as a restless organ donation advocate.

Girard Tecson is an award-winning Filipino filmmaker and the founder of Dayside Productions. He is a director, producer, writer, cinematographer, and editor who is recognized for his work in digital media. Girard graduated from CUNY’s Hunter College with an MFA in Integrated Media Arts. His short film “This Moment” won the Best Picture Award at Hunter College’s Campus Movie Fest. “The Gift of Life” was the Runner Up documentary at the 2016 CUNY Asian American Film Festival. Girard currently works as an ePortfolio Specialist at John Jay College-CUNY.
