Lily Collins Was Shocked When She Found Out Phil Collins’ Genesis Songs Were Real | WWHL

During “Clubhouse Jukebox,” Mean Girls on Broadway star Ashley Park says she’s only ever done karaoke publicly once and it was to Kelly Clarkson’s hit Since U Been Gone. Ashley also says her first concert was a Celine Dion show, Wicked and Seussical are her favorite Broadway soundtracks, and her pick for 2024’s song of the summer is Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter. Plus, Lily Collins remembers going to a Genesis concert as an adult and being shocked to hear the songs her father Phil Collins were performing had actually been real and not just melodies in her head.

I've always liked classical music (Beethoven, Mozart, etc), and discovered my parents' many classical cassette tapes as a young adult. Many of those were immediately my favorite versions, and just seemed familiar somehow. My mom told me she had copied all of them from her friend's classical music collection when she was pregnant with me. My parents are not big music listeners, and they had probably gone basically unplayed for decades.
