A few points for clarity:
1) Yes, this episode is canon. It’s a dream Astrodude’s son has, which tells us a lot about the character.
2) Venus has a female voice because in the son’s mind, the planet is named after the “goddess of beauty” so a female voice makes sense. In reality, Venus is a hot planet with acid rains and volcanoes, which is why in our show he is quite different.

Considering the fact that astrodudes son was dreaming, and it was all a dream, I’d say that astrodudes son is pretty smart. Most kids from what I’ve seen don’t learn about the layers of the earths atmosphere until 7th grade.
