Is Trump's Deportation Plan Even Possible?

President-elect Donald Trump says he wants to declare a national emergency – and maybe even use the military – to deport around 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.

CHECK OUT THESE DEALS FROM OUR SPONSORS:

The consequences could be dire: millions of families separated, livelihoods upended, an even bigger backlog of immigration court cases, and a bill that could top $350 billion. Dara Lind, senior fellow at the American Immigration Council, helps us separate facts from fears when it comes to Trump’s plan.

And in headlines: Trump announces a flurry of final cabinet picks, Israel’s Defense Forces traded more fire with the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, and the annual U.N. climate summit wraps up with a controversial $300 billion deal.

If you’re looking for hype, fake outrage, and groupthink, kindly keep moving. Our mission at What a Day is simple: to be your guide to what truly matters each morning (and the fun stuff you might have missed) in just 20 minutes. Host Jane Coaston brings you in-depth reporting and substantive analysis on the big stories shaping today and the creeping trends shaping tomorrow—and when she doesn’t know the answers, she asks someone even smarter to fill us all in. Radical, right?

New episodes drop at 4:00 a.m. Pacific/7:00 a.m. Eastern, Monday–Friday in your favorite podcast app and on YouTube. Being informed was never this easy.

Crooked believes that we need a better conversation about politics, culture, and the world around us—one that doesn’t just focus on what’s broken, but what we can do to fix it. At a time when it’s increasingly easy to feel cynical or hopeless, former Obama staffers Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor have created a place where people can have sane conversations that inform, entertain, and inspire action. In 2017 they started Crooked with Pod Save America—a no-bullshit conversation about politics. Since then, we continue to add shows, voices, and opportunities for activism, because it’s up to all of us to do our part to build a better world. That’s it. End of mission.

I’m always AMAZED and BEWILDERED at whoever looks at people like Stephen Miller on that side of the aisle and think, “YEAH! That’s the guy I WANT to be in power!”

Dude looks the biggest sniveling POS ever.

Watching from Australia I just find this so outrageous. We have laws here that would not allow this sort of racism. I’m surprised that America doesn’t.

Two of my good friends voted for Trump. I told them what I thought about it. They didn't like what I had to say. I had to finally admit that there is something wrong with them. I can no longer make excuses for them.

People. Use apps like 5 Calls to call your representatives and or write a postcard/letter. Do not send them emails. Emails get sold to stupid email lists. Make yourself a bad penny!!!

Do you want to hear something that came to mind with the Trump mass deportation. What will the government do with all the personal property sized by the federal government from the deported persons and families. i.e., houses, jewelry, money, vehicles, etc. Will we warehouse the items after being sold. In Swiss back accounts like the nazis did ? Or keep track of them and give the owners back the equivalent value of the product.

Stephen Miller feels like he's trying to adopt some of Trump's mannerisms when he talks. Same puckered butthole lips.

Cameo is for people who used to be famous. If they were still famous, they wouldn't have the time to be doing Cameos.

No it won’t.
2 reasons
Where are they?
How will they be found?
Logistics are impossible.

Imagine, taking a large army into any major city not knowing where it is going for sure, traffic, local law enforcement, etc.
Where does one put them?

If implemented; it would also be a way for the government to seize assets ( money, homes, cars, etc ).
