Though I feel he still has a lot of t20 cricket left in him the way he has batted in last 2 IPL seasons(especially this season where his intent was great against spinners in middle overs, he was ultraggressive in powerplay and did not slow down for his 50 or 100 in a single game except vs Rajasthan from 97-100) and his failure in this t20 World Cup except in final was only because he did not use his mind and totally went against his natural game but now that he has retired from t20is so I hope he plays every Odi series and obviously every test series because he would get enough rest during t20is and the schedule is anyways not that tight till next IPL.

It was the bombay lobby's plan, after virat's bad run in 2021, everybody started combining him wih rohit, like when will rohit AND VIRAT retire and all that bullshit. Dude, Rohit is 1.5 yrs elder to him, given virat's fitness n dedication, he cudve gone another year or so in t20s. But outside noise got to him n he anniunced retirement. It was unnecessary, if rohit can play till he's 37, virat can too n even longer, but bombay lobby started this trend n others followed

On a personal front, what a way to cap it off, really can't be any better! With a new pair of openers coming with a new coach, this decision gives Hardik-Gautam to build the best team for 2026. He'll focus on the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and try to win an IPL with RCB (that's the only one left the Chinnaswamy is why we haven't won yet), he LOVES Test cricket. An ODI CWC in South African conditions is tailor-made for Virat's templated business model(he'll be 39 at the end of the tournament, no reason to think he won't be there). Our boys have got the monkey off their backs, the first of many!
