The song idea started with some self-reflection and criticism of social media culture, but I don't feel like the song is really finished. I wanted to release it because I've made so many tiny tweaks to it that I feel creatively detached, but I'm sick of feeling unproductive never releasing original music.

I've got to say, I like Jonathan's originals even better than his covers. His covers are awesome too, but his originals tend to be on yet another level. Especially with the obvious thought he puts into the lyrics.

Always love when your original music pops up; between this and Bait, I eagerly want to see more of this in the future. The lyrics feel a lot rawer and even retrospective; there's an honesty and awareness to both this and Bait so far that is striking.

This song really speaks to me. I was stuck in my own echo chamber for a while. Mostly due to years of depression, I was so scared of coming out of it. I was never truly myself around others, not even with myself. Going to therapy definitely helped me open my eyes.
But, the final crack in the ice that broke it was falling in love with someone who would notice that about me. Being in a relationship with him made me realize, "Oh... my actions aren't just affecting ME. There are others who I impact." It was a revelation within myself that I wasn't alone. I felt alone for a very very long time that I acted so selfishly and was blind to it. I wanted to be blind to it. Not anymore. I am now self-aware, and it still can be a struggle for me. There's an internal conflict of what I used to know vs what I want to become.


Beautiful work Jonathan! So many of us have waited for another original, your voice really resonates your words. Can't wait for more~
