UNDERSTANDING DHT AND HAIR LOSS: DEBUNKING THE MYTHS AND FACTS

DHT stands for dihydrotestosterone, which is chemically similar to testosterone but with an additional hydrogen molecule. The main difference is that DHT binds to hormone receptors in the body that activate different mechanisms, and this requires a specific receptor "lock" to be present. Having DHT doesn't necessarily mean that you will experience hair loss as a result. You would need to have the gene that creates sensitivity to DHT in order to experience this effect.

Why does DHT encourage hair loss in the scalp, while encouraging hair growth in the face and chest areas?

What does dht do in the scalp? Why are there receptors there? What does blocking it there topically do? Does it make dht flow more through my body?

You're great, but I do have to disagree... Lately there have been people using hair systems because they're bald but they have no beard hair and they look feminine... I've many patients that had angelman syndrome that had no facial hair but we're completely bald... I do believe it has to do with scalp tension
