3 hours today in my '22 Model S Plaid on 12.4.5. Zero interventions of any kind. No throttle, no turn signals, no speed adjust on input from me. I was in Chill, just to try it out, and it is what Chill was always destined to be. I won't describe it, just try it. It's terrific. First time I've used chill in many months. Checking TeslaFi (not shilling for it) my WH/M went up about 3% over what I would have expected on a drive like that. That said, I'l stick with Standard because I love the highway assertiveness in this release. This is by far my favorite release having had the car a few days over 2 years and FSD since day 1 of ownership. It's not even a close contest. I am both a little nervous at the Street/Highway single stack, but also incredibly excited to try it. Sorry to be so wordy, but this release is on another level in smoothness, assertiveness, predictability and "look-aheadiness-decisions."

12.5.4 still has trouble selecting proper lanes in particular areas...there is one location where it is constantly choosing wrong lane in an intersection where the car is in turn lane but thinks it should go straight because the GPS has it navigating straight...I've tried this intersection numerous times and it has failed every time

Looks like we are many 9’s there 💥💥 I do trust Larry’s testimony. 👍 Words like amazing, avoiding 2 bad accidents, making very difficult merge movements, it was tremendous as hurricane weather was arriving, performed flawlessly in that storm environment, peak hour traffic, city & highway, it felt like a very confident driver driving me, my confident level just kept improving,
.
Some deficits still includes turning around, non standard sign posts, and dealing with emergency vehicles, lane changing and planning. Rate of improvement has exceeded expectations.

I've watched many a video of people testing FSD and watching its progress but today I went into New York's Tesla showroom and they insisted in showing it driving around a few blocks in the madness of city traffic and swathes of tourists. Then the car parallel parked itself! Watching this on a computer screen is one thing but ezperiencing it in teal life is completely different. It was quite amazing.

I just got FSD v12.5.4 on my 2018 Model S. First, no actual smart summon for legacy cars. This is ridiculously unfair. Second, I feel like 12.5.4 feels like a setback. It’s far more hesitant than before. I still feel like 12.3.6 is the best so far.

Avoiding unnecessary style changes means that you can drive a 5, 10 year old Tesla without getting "status shamed", if that sort of thing impacts you. That was an advantage of the VW Beetle, you could drive one that was several years old but as long as it was well maintained it didn't look very different from the most recent models.

Legacy bends metal in different ways from year to year so that people will feel a need to trade in a perfectly good car so that they aren't seen driving last year's model.

I don’t understand why at this point this software doesn’t react to school zone flashing lights and the speed limit of those school zone. That seems crucial. I have the latest public version, , , doesn’t react at all.

I have a 2018 model 3 with hardware 3. I did a drive in Colorado to see the fall colors into the mountains last weekend on 12.3.6. it did it flawlessly the next weekend did the same drive on 12.5.4 and had dozens of interventions as the car drifted out of the lane across the double yellow line and had trouble navigating cyclists and oncoming traffic with phantom braking. I love Tesla but this version on hardware 3 was a regression. In that scenario. I definitely experienced improvements in the city with its smoothness and decision making for lanes. Pat, the vehicle struggled to stay in its Lane on curves going through the mountains. This was a regression in driving capabilities.

I drive with 12.5 regularly and tested often, its good and really want it to do well. I did notice this weekend that sunrise had issues with it, the latency with new smart summons times out too, it wasn’t useful. Much progression but much to go in order to offer as a robotaxi unsupervised. Love tesla!

Its good to hear that FSD performed well for Larry thru the accident scenarios. This is a MAJOR hurdle crossed.

On 12.5.4 on ‘22 MdlY with AI3. Eye tracking works perfectly with or without sunglasses. Auto-speed is sketchy and I have to often press the accelerator for proper speed and nudge from time to time. Treats Yield signs like stop signs. Two disengagements today…got stuck in middle of road when turning out of driveway (seemed confused on which direction to take), and later seemingly tried to make an improper turn out of parking lot onto highway. No ‘safety critical’ disengagements today.

12.5.4 has carried an error that it had back from 12.3.6. In the beginning. Somebody else try to go to Costco from seal Beach Boulevard and the 405 freeway in Southern California Which was better in the end than 12.5.4 is now. I’m expecting it to get better. But what the hell? In the end of 12.3.6 before we received the upgrade. We took a trip to Northern California with almost absolutely no interventions and back with no interventions. I wish somebody would explain this. I took the car a few miles down the road yesterday. Drove it up PCH and I had to keep hitting the gas pedal. I would take it to the speed limit at 60 miles an hour, and it would keep dropping dropping dropping. Among other things. So no, this is not a perfect build.

I finally got 12.5.4. It’s not perfect as mentioned in the comments. But I’m glad I finally got to see what everybody has been raving about. I LOVE not getting the steering wheel nag ! I need to do a long distance drive to see if it is still reading Missouri highway 50 signs as speed limit signs.

My H3MY got 12.5.4 two days ago. 90% is great but it still struggles on the round-abouts almost got me T-boned. But it did save me from getting sideswiped on the highway same day. Keep working on it Tesla! It’s so close!

12.5.4 is making more mistakes than previous version. I ‘m disappointed.

12.5.4 was a big step backward for me. It kept avoiding being in the correct clear lane for an upcoming turn. The speed limits were terrible in more places. It felt a lot more like a new/teen driver.

Zero progress in handling center turn lanes. *sigh*

For me, this was the worst 12.x release.
