Good question. It's because multiplication is really just iterated addition. Look up Knuth's up-arrow notation to see a crazy example of how iterated operations can lead to numbers so large the universe isn't even large enough to write them.. like "Graham's number" :)

this was by far my favorite vsauce video.. it's cool that you're raising awareness to such an important matter. we're so lucky to have clean water that we don't even realize that there are many people out there in the world that are not as lucky and have no water, and die from that. =/

The Mpemba effect, we noticed this in secondary school, it’s probably not scientifically accurate enough but to me it always looked like the hot water lost energy quicker because it had more energy to lose. Like thermodynamics, high entropy states want to move to a low entropy state? But is ice higher or lower entropy than boiling water? Man I really need to go to sleep
