I’m disappointed that there aren’t more people into board games. You’re reviews really helped me choose which games to get though and hopefully the community grows.

Hey Cody, just revisited this list. Hmmmm.... I own more than a few of FF games. YES, TI3 (have all the expansions) is amazing. I will love to KNOW a small handful of people to play this with. My #1 is "Operation Tannhauser", which I've collected everything, of course...IF I had one wish for you, it would be that you and your friends jump into this game... magic, guns, tech, and beautifully painted figures, right out of the box. Expansion figures, mercs and so many options... over the years I've taken this game beyond the original rules to such fun places... build a new board from all your "Mansion of Madness " pieces for new missions (some house ruling involved), throw in some zombies, mad dogs... whatever you like. My second favorite game is "Gears of War", which is a marvel of production... the mini's and sculpts are just the best. I KNOW you'd love this game. They put out a small box series... of which CONDOTIERRE is genius (Kinitzia)... small footprint but fantastic game, which could play six players. Their small card games really worked well.

I am with you on Star Wars Rebellion and Battlestar Galactica. The tension and stress created in those games is amazing. The decisions you make are crucial, which to me is the most important aspect of making a game interesting and fun. The stories created from each session are just fun, and conversations created for 30-40 minutes after a game with your friends about what happened are the signs of the best games.

I have only played TI4 a couple times and it is also good. Maybe a few more playthroughs will make it great for me as I will be less focused on learning the game.

I completely agree with you about Twilight Imperium 4th edition needing an expansion. 8 players would be awesome. More races? Yes please! And more modular elements that made TI3 so much fun!

Cool list!!! I've heard a lot of great things about TI4, but I think my problem with this game is how I'm going to find a store selling it here in my country! But is it still part of their lineup of games or has it gone the way of Fury of Dracula (too bad about that one)? My favorite FFG games are the ones I have: Battlore Second edition, Runebound Third edition, and Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second edition! I did see the other games in the included catalogs; but I didn't see them at the game stores. Would have liked to try games like Cave Troll, Dungeonquest Revised edition, and Drakon Fourth edition!

Excellent video as always. Lord of the Rings LCG will always hold a special place in my heart. Sunk a lot of money into that one. I think Arkham Horror LCG is also Fantasy Flight. By the way, have you ever played Cave Troll (published by FF)? It's a fantasy dudes on the map game that plays in 45 minutes. My copy is arriving today. Love your tap dancing skills by the way! :)

Great top 5!!! I'm quite a FFG fanboy myself. I'd add some more mentions like Gears of War, Middle Earth Quest and Descent. Regarding BSG, which expansions if any do you play with?

Couldn't agree more on most of that Cody. The secret message "Cody's top five games from fantasy flight games"...was that on purpose or an accident?

TI4 is screaming out for some more content but still it's an unbelievable game. Rebellion vanilla is my favourite flavour but it's easily one of my favourites overall.

Good stuff!

Great review. I've never played any of these games but have been wondering... and I know Twilight Imperium is popular. I don't know if I'd go for the Star Wars stuff (I'm too old school) but I'm DEFINITELY interested in "The Mansion of Madness." (My daughter and I just started playing Eldritch Horror and really liked it.) And hey, how about that POWER GIRL card? (LOL!!)

Have you tried Chaos in the Old World? Thats my #1 from FFG and overall for that matter. I understand that you appriciate Eric Langs designs? Such a shame FFG lost the GW licence so no expansions for Forbidden Stars and everything is out of print. Still waiting for the right moment to try out TI...

That was the funniest thing I´ve seen all week. The master of tap dance, indeed! When are you releasing your music video? ;-)

Battle for rokugan is criminally underrated. Gorgeous, cheap, well made, fun, and in a decent sized box. Also it doesnt drag, it plays in an hour. I was rwslly surprised and its one everyone wants to play here.

I love all these games as well, my favorites would be Arkham horror lcg, descent, lotr lcg, cosmic encounter, the lord of the rings journey in middle earth, and eldritch horror! Still need to hop on the TI4 train lol

Hey Cody. Quinns from SU&SD also said they thought Rebellion was a derivative from the greater game War of the Ring (2nd edition). Would you agree? What are your thoughts on that?

DOOM
Chaos in the Old World
Death Angel
Battlelore 2ed

Ah, FFG.  Probably responsible for over 25% of most of our games to be honest.  I agree with what you say about the FFG/Disney/GW thing, for myself it was,  well for me it was the beginning of the end of a lot of support for FFG.  I still can't fault them though.  To me they will always be the company that came up with Runebound, that perfected it's mechanical predecessor Talisman, (with the addition of Fate.) that made the most engaging board game for Super Heroes up until Legendary, the company that made many of us seriously reconsider how we viewed both narrative and challenge in games with the Arkham Files, and of course, the only company with the absolute stones to even *attempt* to seriously put the name "Horus Heresy" on a box, much less actually deliver that iconic experience on a board!  Their past games are so good it makes a top five almost impossible due to how fluid it is but for now it would be:  1.  Forbidden Stars 2.  Eldritch Horror  3.  Relic (Nemesis/Halls of Terra)  4.  Runebound 2nd Edition  5.  NetRunner.  Again, they may as well *all* be number one they are so close to each other.  :)
