Idiots Go Supercar Shopping - My Gearbox Nightmare!!

Well, Sam (SeenThroughGlass) and I went Supercar Shopping. I had an EPIC FAIL on my Test Drive of the new AMR Aston Martin Vantage. A fun roadtrip, but NOT how to shop for supercars!!

Ok, I've never driven any 7-speed manual - but... it strikes me as essentially pretty straightforward. You have 6 conventional gears in the double-H pattern, plus 1 extra gear just for taking off from a standstill! IF you actually need it! Because it's only ever used for taking off or at walking pace when you're below 4-5 mph! So those 7 gears are: - start, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Simples!!!

Fab Car I had a 1981 Porsche 928 Manual that had a dogleg 1st never drove one but loved it 1-3 was great and 3rd was such a powerful gear I sold it and 2 yrs later got the lightweight 1998 928 S that was such a fun car shame I sold it 😩 Great video’s keep them coming love the Monaco trip 👍

Once you get used to a continental gearbox it feels amazing and brought back memories of my Porsche 928 s2 that had a continental box which was very rare as most were autos

The dogleg is not a big deal. Your never in first, so it’s easier to drive hard than a normal H pattern. That’s the whole point as it’s easier to properly rev match downshift from 3rd to 2nd. All the rest are the same going up or down. I do agree the DBS of that era is the best looking car Aston made and definitely one of their best all-time designs. Manual and V12?!?! Yes, please!

I guess the nsx idea is dead, was really looking forward to a big Youtuber owning a nsx, I’m kinda sad stradman bought the gtr over the nsx, gtr is everywhere, everyone has a gtr. No one has a nsx, it’s s so criminally underrated.
