Trust me. I'm in my 30s. If you're a teenager reading this you'll know when you're older that friends come and go with the tide. You might lose one now and reconnect in 5 or 10 years. The average friendship lasts 2-3 years once you've hit your 20s. Life's too short to place someone at the centre of your world, because your world is ever expanding with new people and experiences.

I truly am sorry for what you’ve been dealt - you deserve someone who you can depend on as they do you, not someone who'll only leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. While not all persons are friends, understand this: All friends are persons, and you’ll meet someone worthwhile one day, who will stick by your side no matter what, and vice versa. Yknow, in the short 18 years of life I’ve lived, I’ve learned that people will come and go from your life and there isn’t anything you can do about it. You can’t force somebody to stay when they’ve always had every intention of leaving. But that’s okay. I’m a firm believer that the people who surround you are here to guide and teach you certain lessons about your life. It’s hard to know who is there to help you or harm you, but in due time everything will make sense. Because even when you lose a friend, you wind up gaining experiences from their presence in your life. Not everyone will stay, but my grandmother has always told me that when you’re at the end of your life, if you’re able to count how many true friends you’ve had or have in your life on one hand, then you were considered blessed. The number of friends you have doesn’t mean anything if they have no loyalty. You’ll lose many friends in this journey we call life, but if you’re lucky enough to have a few remain, then those are the ones who were always meant to be in your life.
