This verse appeared on my daily verse app n it really shocked me. Am still trying to digest this!

I was wondering why people think this was fulfilled? With all the danger around Israel and with the fact that they still don't acknowledge Jesus to this day?

The Temple was pulled down, and was fulfilled after three days when Jesus was resurrected. Jesus had also prophesied, challenging them to throw down the Temple and he would build it back up in three days. He had always been teaching that the body is the Temple, but even his own Apostles did not thoroughly grasp it until after he was resurrected and his ascension into heaven. As it is when he originally said this the crowd were somewhat mocking thinking that he was referring to the literal Temple Structure built by Herod, and they said to Jesus that it took builders 42yrs to build that Temple and he (Jesus) would raise it up again in three days??? But the Temple built by Herod was destroyed in 70AD when the Roman Army invaded and reduced practically all of it to rubble (stone upon stone/pile of stones! Only a small section of one of the stone walls remains today. The Palestinians/Muslims who took possession of Jerusalem and named it Al-Quds (Israel had already been renamed Palestine by the Roman soldiers, and the Muslims retained the name Palestine), but they showed deep respect for the God of former Israel by retaining and maintaining the wall as "Holy" 🕊️ ).
