I'm glad you didn't tear away the ribbon cable and replace it by the Hardway-Harry tactic of soldering tiny wires all along the terminal strip. The cable is perfectly good, it just needs to be refastened.

Don’t suppose you know the name of a replacement adhesive to use with this method? My practice calculator already had the ribbon removed on the LCD side and I stupidly cleaned it with IPA, instead of searching for this video
