Adding ribbon & decorative embroidery to a #slowstitch box #roxysjournalofstitchery #slowstitching

Working on my slow stitch box for Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery volume 5 with the prompt of a slow stitch box.

I’m creating a slow stitch house shaped box with a roof that opens up. The walls of the house are constructed from English paper pieces or epp hexagons or hexies. The roof is constructed from clamshell epp shapes.

The fabrics I am using are French general
Moda charm packs as well as other French inspired fabric.

In this video I share how I am adding ribbon embroidery vines as well as decorative geometric type stars to the hexagon walls of the house.

I also share how I’m adding little invisible stitches to hold down the hexagons I have assembled entirely with UHU glue.

With thanks as always to Rachel @roxycreations679 and Sarah @roxycreationsbysarah for the time they put into this and for everything they do to create a wonderful community of slow stitchers anc slow stitching lovers!

Thank you Christine for your video and company today. I kept this for Saturday and have enjoyed stitching along with you and Corrine. This cottage is going to be beautiful and a lovely addition to your craft room. I hope Alex, Travis and yourself have enjoyed a lovely time on the island. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and happy stitching.

The fabric patterns and the green ribbon embroidery together gives a lovely warm feel to the overall theme of the design. It looks beautiful and organic. I like the ribbon stitching technique.

The finished box it’s going to look whimsically beautiful - I’m looking forward to seeing it!

I was wondering if you’d do a loose lazy daisy style stitch in the last panel of hexes. I think the starburst idea you have looks attractive too.

Hi Christine. This looks good! Could you please tell me the name of that Japanese ribbon? It looks beautiful and I would love to try and find some here. TFS 😊
