The man in this picture is Gurdev Singh. He is Mann Kaur's personal trainer and coach. He is the one who helped Mann Kaur to participate in athletics even at this age. Gurdev Singh is currently 85 years old. He himself was also an athlete for long. Do you know who exactly is Gurdev Singh? Any guesses? He is Mann Kaur's son. Yes, her own son is her coach and trainer. Watching her son Gurdev training during his athletic days was an inspiration for Mann Kaur, but that's not it. He was not just her inspiration but also her personal coach and trainer who guided her to reach this point. In her career so far, Mann Kaur has participated in various sport events and won many accolades. She has won many global competitions securing gold medals for herself. How many do you think she's got so far? 31 international gold medals and the number of gold medals she has secured in India events is 13 national golds; and there is no stopping her with her increasing age. Earlier, Mann Kaur in the year 2016 at the American Masters Meet, had taken part in a sprint of 100 m, wherein she clocked and set a record of 1.21 minutes. Then in the year 2017, at New Zealand she bettered it and completed another 100m sprint within 1.17 minutes. She broke her own record. Later in the year 2019, in Poland, Mann Kaur had taken part in 200 m sprint and 60 m sprint. She completed the 60m race in just 36 seconds. She won gold medals in sprint, javelin throw and shot put. On 8 March 2020 that's the International Women's Day, Mann Kaur was handed over the Nari Shakti Puraskar award. The award was presented by the President and Prime minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. She is the receiver of this great award. She is nicknamed as the "Miracle of Chandigarh". Mann Kaur and her son are always together wherever they go. He takes care of her diet too and cooks for her. Once Mann Kaur and her son were both invited at a university to motivate students and share some words of wisdom to inspire them. That's when Mann Kaur said that she doesn't eat any junk or outside food. Her diet includes only home-grown food. What does she eat? It includes nuts and pulses like dals, home grown soy milk. She also has kefir which is like thin curd. Then she has wheatgrass juice, and sprouted wheat which they turn into chapatis. Mann Kaur has two sons and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, but there is no stopping her zeal with her advancing age. Because she's old, she doesn't want to stop herself from participating in athletics and living a retired and content life at home with nothing to do.
