As somebody who’s lost a family member to clipping, I feel that this is an important message.

Thank you, now I know how to act if I find myself in this dangerous position.

Thanks for making the comedic material that floats around in my head whenever someone talks about gain staging from an "expert's perspective.

Your words resonate with my own personal journey. I've been clipping free now for 12 years 14 days 2 hours 36 minutes and 3 seconds. I feel like I can achieve anything. 🙏🏼

I needed this so bad 😂 thank you. I was actually super worried about gain staging and I thought me clipping occasionally was a big deal.

Gain staging aint gonna be fixed with turning the faders down tho

Gain staging for me means, level matching plugins so I don't lose headroom. I don't really worry about input plugin sweet spots. If you know your system well enough, then you know where elements should generally sit level-wise in the mix.

How did you not crack even a hint of a smile during that?

I’ve only noticed better results after I started mixing everything around -6dB, turning master really low and bringing it back up in the mastering phase… rather than cranking each track as loud as it can go without clipping.

My favorite way to gain stage is to record at the levels I want.

I think I understand... so if it’s too freaking loud that’s when the little red lights come on .... ok... I think I get that part.... but why do I have to turn it down? Is there a peer reviewed white paper on this? Has this been fact checked? Do you have corroborating testimony on this from properly credentialed experts?
