Snowy Plovers of San Francisco

Few San Francisco beach-goers realize it, but they share the sands each winter with an at-risk species... the small, plucky Snowy Plover.

Western Snowy Plovers have been declining due to increased development and activity in their nesting areas. The winters they spend in San Francisco allow them to feed and gain strength for the summer breeding season.

This video by Matt Baker and Aliyah Kovner offers beautiful footage of plovers at Crissy Field and Ocean Beach, and an inspirational message about protecting these federally-protected shorebirds. One easy thing to do... keep dogs on leash near plover habitat at the beach.

The environmentalists here in Humboldt shut down beach acess with vehicles because of this stupid bird. I honestly dont care if its extinct. Glad you made the anti-vaxx speech though. World needs more people like you.
