This song was originally about an ex he had. But after his friend from his band died, he dedicated the song to him. The reason he asks people to help him out is that there is so many times that he just loses it and breaks down mid song, and the crow keeps singing while he is having his breakdown. He knows his fans feel the pain as well... We all miss Paul so and we all cry during the song as well. We all help each other through. Just a bit of background.

This song always hits me in the feels. Especially as it took on a different meaning after Paul's death

I listened to "Snuff" over 400 times in 2018 when I went through my divorce. This performance STILL brings me to a blubbering mess of tears to this day, the emotions still as raw and savage as the day she left. Every single line has so much meaning, personally. It IS a song about despair, heartbreak, anger at yourself, being unable to hate the one who damaged you so badly, and surprisingly, a hint of self-respect and moving on at the end. This song so perfectly encapsulated the entirety of my divorce in a way that I could never have hoped for, and I'll forever be grateful to Corey and Slipknot for writing it, and to you for so fully grasping the importance and emotionality of it.

The song, iirc, originally was about a past relationship Corey was in. However, it was the last song he and Slipknot bassist, Paul Gray, worked on together (released on Slipknot's "All Hope is Gone" album in '08). Paul Gray died less than 2yrs after the album's release so there's a double emotional pull for Corey. The original reason for the song's lyrics and then it being the last piece of music he worked on with a guy that was as a brother to him.

That was heart-wrenching, wasn't it? Great insightful review, Julia. I don't consider myself a Slipknot fan, but this is definitely my favorite performance of Corey, mostly because I can relate to this song. At one point in our lives, some of us experienced being underappreciated, in a toxic relationship with our significant other, and up to the loss of loved ones whether it's a family member or a dear friend. Yup. Had been through those hard times.
