By passive investing bubble, I thought he meant the bubble created by extra money going into the stock market over the last decade of artificially low interest rates. Money has been funneling into the stock market that otherwise would’ve stayed in savings accounts or bonds or t bills and other more conservative investments. But with the lack of yield people were putting money into the stock market to get any growth at all.

So an ETF actually helps unknown companies to get some leverage and these unknown companies get their big break and in the future they will be so successful they will become a household name. Like this is how Amazon and Tesla probably got their start.

While I do agree with Burry’s overall theme about passive investing, my pushback would be that good ETFs usually do a solid job of rotating bad companies out of the fund. So a few bad apples can’t ruin the whole fund. One I remember is when AMD was eventually dropped from S&P a few years ago when it started to fall. It eventually rebounded and surpassed its previous highs but that was the one example that comes to mind. But I do agree with what he’s saying

Doesnt matter if its up or down, keep putting your extra dollars into the market. All downs are much shorter than times of growth. Dollar cost average and then ride that next high. Love yall

The day passive investing stops working, will be the day individual stocks will become more attractive. They will bought and eventually blend in with the other stocks. In the end making passive investing attractive again.

It is a negative feedback loop from which there is no escape. Proper factor ETF investing is the way to go.
