'How can you possibly see what is happening right now and come to the conclusion that we shouldn't guarantee health care as a human right' — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) joins Rep. Ayanna Pressley, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, and Justice Democrats Executive Director Alexandra Rojas in a call for universal healthcare in the United States of America.

In US news and current events today, the coronavirus outbreak, the COVID-19 pandemic is presenting enormous challenges and pointing out flaws in America's health care system.

'If we had universal healthcare right now nobody would have to worry about the cost of treatment or necessary drugs or vaccines,' Representative Jayapal explains how there are 70 million uninsured or underinsured Americans who may be struggling to put their health first simply because of what it would cost them.

We’re in a country that cares more about money than lives. Truly sickening

Hey guys, as a german who lived his entire life with universal health care I can approve that message. :D
To go to a doctor to get the proper medical treatment and medicine without thinking about money in anyway feels pretty normal from my point of view.
Germany is not a socialist country by the way. :D
Bless you <3

I'm an uninsured essential employee. My family and I live from pay check to paycheck. I was sent home from work because of symptoms. My local health department does not test. I don't have a doctor to be tested and cleared. Without a doctor's note I cannot return to work. I'm a heartbeat away from losing a job that I got right before the pandemic truly began in this country.

Whether or not I have covid, I'm not a "hard working American" and "worthy" enough of healthcare.

This is the reality of America.

Let me start with, Canada is not a Socialist country!
As a Canadian, I'm absolutely aghast at the thought of not having universal healthcare, it's unbelievable! My heart breaks at what Americans are expected to endure. Now with this virus, how are people to cope?

Once you have it there's no fighting against it. There's not a politician in Canada that would dare introduce anything that looks like two tier healthcare. Universal healthcare is one of the most precious institutions a country can have.

That's what we have in Canada. My health insurance is not attached to my employer. You work or not, you are covered!!! Health care is paid through our income taxes, collectively . And where I live the ambulance is a co-pay of $45 for one ride to a hospital. Never had to pay a doctor or a hospital... Hope, the USA can learn from other countries with this kind of health care system.

2020 is perhaps *the* make-or-break year for the US in 21st century.

I'm from Sri Lanka and I feel very lucky to be here having free health care and education.

I don't understand why no one deserves free healthcare. It doesn't make sense.

Someone said USA never been a rich country. They're just good at selling themselves.
It's like a broke person with a Gucci belt.
