People Are Boycotting Target Over Its Bathroom Policy - Newsy

Thousands of people are pledging to boycott Target after the company said its customers should use whatever restroom or fitting room matches their gender identity.
Target's statements came not long after North Carolina passed its controversial "bathroom" law.
Now the American Family Association has released a petition calling for people to boycott Target. The group's statement reads: "Target's policy is exactly how sexual predators get access to their victims. ... Clearly, Target's dangerous new policy poses a danger to wives and daughters."
The group proposed Target should provide a separate "unisex" facility. More than 189,000 people had pledged their support as of Friday afternoon.
On Tuesday, Target released a statement saying, "We stand for equality and equity, and strive to make our guests and team members feel accepted, respected and welcomed in our stores and workplaces every day."
Target's statement has proved polarizing online with many commenters showing support and others condemning Target's decision.

In order for Target to make all customers "feel comfortable", then Target needs to build more bathrooms in each store to accommodate ALL customers, not make existing customers share bathrooms. I won't shop there until they ensure that I can be comfortable.

Just an update, 4 years later and Target is still doing fine, how did that boycott work out?

Well instead of making Male and Female bathrooms, just make 4 unisex single stall bathrooms with locking doors. Targets statement sounded like this to me. If you identify as a man use the men's room. if you identify as female use the female's restroom. I'm not really sure why I would boycott them for saying that. Could someone please explain why that statement is so wrong?

Who at Target decides which bathroom matches his/her gender identities? If I look and dress like a man and put on lipstick, do I qualify for the women's bathroom? This is ambiguous and very open to discrimination..He doesn't look woman enough, she doesn't look man enough..what a hassle!

Walmart and other stores have family restrooms that any one can use. Although it would seem creepy to me if a woman was in the men's restroom, it should be kept separate except for the family restrooms
