A while back someone said to me "But people get addicted to those ADHD meds and can't stop anymore" I responded with "If I don't put them on top of the stuff I use daily, I completely forget they exist lol"

“Noooo they are addictive”

Then why tf do I forget to take them 2 out of every 3 days, Karen?

I had a teacher who told me ADHD meds were cheating and that I wasn’t allowed to take them for her class
After a trip to the principals office with her and my parents after school she changed her mind quick😂😂

There is definitely a distinct difference of how I function with and without my medication, quite frankly I feel happier being productive after taking my meds because I like getting stuff I like done, than a wandering lost soul slipping in and out of reality when I am off my meds.
*(EDIT.) because I don't think I'm speaking my thoughts clearly, and I typically don't which gives me anxiety, so I hope below clarifies my weird comment above)

I am essentially saying that to function/ be a productive human being, closer to being "normal"/ neurotypical, I have to be on my medication and take them on a daily basis. When I forget to take my medication or stop taking it for whatever reason, I am more like a wandering soul slipping in and out of reality staring off into space for hours on end, forgetting so many things, losing so many things, I struggle with paying attention and more...
So I am much happier when I take my medication because it helps me get things I want accomplished done and helps me see that I am, and have always been, a smart, hardworking human. I just wish I was diagnosed sooner, my life in elementary, middle, high school, and college would have been SOOOO much easier

As an ADHDer, i completely get this, and think being able to have fun with this condition is important, but don't forget, you're not ruined, you're not wrong, you're not broken. The Problem isn't your neuro divergence, its that the world only knows how to extract value from one type of brain, the world is ruined, not your brain

My brain came pre packed with a ‘gently used’ sign attached to it.

I have friends who take prescription stimulants for ADHD. It's getting harder and harder for them to find places that are willing to jump through the absolutely outlandish hoops our state government demands. Another friend who takes a variety of medications, some of them controlled fights every other month with his pharmacy because he gets tramadol for his migraines. I've stopped trying to keep up with my klonopin prescription because it's basically impossible for it to be refilled without going to see my doctor in person again. Luckily I still have relatively good access to my other medications, but it feels like waiting for the other shoe to drop. What if they decide to reclassify my nerve medication because you can get high on it? What if there's a sudden recall on my blood thinners? What if the ssri I've taken for years is taken off the market? The meds aren't what"ruined our brains/other body parts." They help the pre-existing mess work better.

All of my friends keep saying that I don’t have ADHD but I do and its just like what do I have to prove to them but at the same time I can see why they think I am “faking have ADHD” because the only ADHD that they are used to is the hyper one, but mine is more inattentive instead of hyperactive also I was diagnosed with ADHD later in my life.

If I have to hear “No, you can’t have that medication, it’s addictive” one more time… And this comes from DOCTORS, people! Sheesh…

My grandma always has been old fashioned and against pills, especially mental disorders. She always calls my grandpa “a bit autistic” but that’s just not true. Atleast she’s actually worried about me, my mother just blames everything on my ADHD.

My mom recently got adhd meds (like 2 weeks ago) and she said that in those two weeks she has gotten more checked off her to do list than the entire rest of the year. Adhd meds are gods gift to man

Most ADHD people on meds: Wow, I can actually do things!
Neurotypicals: Well it doesn't work like that for me so it definitely doesn't work like that for you.
