Emerald City Comicon versus the Cranky Old Man

Agreed that Emerald City had a different feel regarding the creators this year. I am chalking it up to pandemic concerns, Christmas time, and LA Comic Con the same weekend. I will be hopefull that next years will start getting back to what it should be.

I've been going to cons for 30 years and most of my time spent at those shows was standing in line to get autographs. The 1 to 2 hours standing in line for a Todd McFarlane or Jim Lee was the price I had to pay. These days there are very few artists that I don't have autographs from that I'm willing to spend a reasonable amount on. But by and large, my days of chasing autographs is over and that is primarily because of the charge. But like you say, I wish creators the best to get what they can get.
