Day 6 of @InkJournal's #30inks30days - I'm getting purple today! Come on in and we'll look at J. Herbin Poussiere de Lune + 8 other purples I enjoy.
Poussiere de Lune is a deep dark purple in the ballpark of Nooder's Violet and DeAtramentis Aubergine. This ink is smooth and juicy ... writing is a joy with this one! It also moves around nicely on water color paper.
Ha! Tricks on me -- I already have Diamine Artic Blue from an Ink Flight!!!!!!!!!!!!
Available here:
Serendipity Hybrid Pen:
Thank you for viewing!!!!

Hi Chris, i must say that J Herbin are bringing out some very interesting colours and the Poussiere de Lune is rather like it it's dark colour verging on plum very nice indeed. Also Poussiere de Lune translates to Moon Dust just thought i would mention that for all those out there who might be interested to know. Thanks again for another great video and God Bless to you all!!!!

Chris I really liked todays ink, being a purple lover myself. The lighting was really good I thought, all the colors on your comparison sheet showed up beautifully. See you tomorrow!

Chris, thanks for another great video! I must say, that large page of the 6 purple swatches is an excellent showcase for the inks. You can pause the video and really study the colours in detail. It’s a great tool. I have the Poussiere de Lune, and haven’t cared for it much. Looking in my sample book, I see I was using an extra-fine nib with it, and it looks faint & washed out. However, seeing your samples with the broader nibs completely transforms it - it’s so much darker and saturated - very nice. So thanks to you, I’ll give it another try, but a broader nib. (PS - I’ve found the lighting has been great everyday).

I loved your painted purple card! So many wonderful purples. If you've not tried it, I would recommend you try J Herbim Violette Penesee. It's a nice magenta, similar to purple reign, but not as bright.

Another good one. Thanks Chris and the lightning worked. Also I have similar to the new you are using. It has a Newton pen holder that uses vintage Esterbrook nibs.

Maybe I'm lucky... I get a lot of shading w/ this ink... but I have a broad and stub nib that I've tried it in... it's my favorite (this year)

One of my Top 10 inks. I always--always--have at least one pen inked up with it, usually my Purple TWSBI ECO. I love it so much that I buy it by the 100ml bottle. I go through a bottle every 15 months or so. Did I mention that most of my pens are fine point?

So, yeah. I like this one.

Muted, dark colors like this are fantastic for anything that you'll need to read lots of--letters, college notes, journaling, the great American novel, etc. It's so easy on the eyes that there's no strain at all reading it, no matter how many pages there are. I use it often for letters to my mom in the autumn (when I'm not using Maruzan Athena Renga). The color suits the season's deep, muted colors.

I've convinced more people to get fountain pens with this ink as well. I tell them--find a marker or non-FP that has a color like this one. So many people love it for how rich, luxurious, yet relaxing it is. There is no other ink like it, anywhere.

I would encourage you to try an ink you have that you don't care for. Sometimes revisiting an ink can change a old opinion.
