ALL ABOUT LIVING WITH CHOW CHOW DOG

Показать описание
Chow chows are devoted to and protective of their families. To make them good family pets, they need plenty of early socialization including exposure to children. Chow chows do best with training to clarify their position in the family or they can become dominant. Despite the challenges of training, some chow chows compete and do well in obedience and agility.

Grooming varies with the coat type. A rough-coated chow chow does best with a daily grooming to keep him free of tangles. Smooth-coated dogs can be groomed briefly once or twice a week. Special attention should be paid to keeping the eyes and the facial folds clean because the profuse coat can retain dirt and debris.

I loved my chow, Onyx. He was such an a-hole. He ignored Obedience trainers, run in and out of my mom's bedroom just because she'd yell at him. All with what looked like a smile. He was my puff baby. I miss him dearly.

They are the most misrepresented, most misunderstood breed. The truth is they are highly intelligent, they don't just give up their love and trust to anyone, you have to gain it. They are super easy to train, our boy came toilet trained, never had an accident, never damaged or chewed anything, they won't steal food or get on furniture, the fur don't get on you, it has to be brushed out, we brush our boy about an hour each day, then a trip to groomers once every 3 to 4 months. Best decision we have made getting our chow chow, they don't smell, they are clean, have the perfect energy for our family with work etc

We had a Rotty/Chow-Chow mix. What a magnificent dog! His only downfall...he was stubborn as hell. However, he loved everything that was warm blooded. Really! His idea day was going on a walk, meeting new people//animals along the way, being with his people, and getting fed. He was 107 lbs. of a lovable gentle animal. The most loving and gentle animal I've ever known. RIP, Duke.

I love the Chows and huskies. I have had 5 over the years. I would love to find another one. They are just fuzzy ball of love and joy.

This woman nailed it, there’s something about Chows. They just understand the world around them
Potty training is a breeze. When my 6 year old was 8 weeks he went inside once, I literally asked him not to do it again and he hasn’t.
Don’t have to worry about him getting into the trash. It’s true what she says, you tell them the limits and they just get it.
Such wonderful doggos

Chows know without being told. We just say to our chow girl... " show me" and she will tell you.
Most special breed. So smart. And aloof. Don't ever break a promise to your chow or you will get the aloof cold shoulder all day. We have to talk to our girl Sunny Rose like she's an intelligent human or she will ignore us. We say she "chows" us. And don't give her a store bought cookie. She will only take fresh filet minion or cheese as her treats. We never potty trained her. She just always took us outside to the park's farthest out of the way corner. She has NEVER been apart from us. We swear she speaks English as her first language. She loves innocent kind children and good people. But somehow has natural instincts for knowing the bad. We respect what she says about everything. What a pleasure it is to share our lives with such a family member. 💝

Chows are great, they're independent enough that they're more like roommates lol. Roommates with maintenance 😂

She is exactly correct on every description about them.
I've had 2 cream females. 1st lived awkwardly from 07/03/03 - 07/17/17.
2nd one is 5yrs old now.
I've noticed both are similar in demeanor ans easiest to potty train. My 2nd one trained the very 1st night semi Truck at 6weeks old. She NEVER pee'd or shit in my truck and I could leave a box of Chester's chicken on the floorboard between the sets, come back 2hrs later and it's all there.
My 1st would not accept food from any friend or stranger unless I said it was OK!
My 2nd one is a great watch dog and is built muscle wise like a male. 60lbs and beat up a full grown Rottweiler by going fire his paws...
SHE'S 1000% RIGHT ON SOCIAL INTERACTION WHEN THEY'RE LITTLE.
and smart as hell!!! They are!!!!
I told my 1 yr old puppy she couldn't have a splash of milk in her bowl (her treat) because we ran out of milk. She went over to the trash bend, put her nose just inside it, NODGED the empty milk jug and looked back at me to go get it out for her !!!!
[ I'm not kidding, that's how smart they're]

When I was a kid the Chow Chow I remember seeing in my dog encyclopedia didn’t look like this, with the face to the point you can’t see the eyes. I’m 38 yr now, I don’t like so much how the dogs have progressed. So many dog breeds have changed drastically in some way. If people like it though that’s great.

I absolutely loved my red chow chow, male. His name was Pooh Bear and he lived till he was fifteen years old. He was kind and gentle, he loved to be kissed on top of his head and I would talk baby talk to him. I hope to find him in Heaven, I would love to have him around all the time.

Chows are great. They are so protective and would risk their life for their owners. I've had chows and mixes for over 25 years. I love them. They are always looking out for you

Do not hurt him in any way. Unintentional or not. Chows will remember it. A doctor took my dogs temperature in his bottom. My chow never let me touch his bottom again. Same with his nails. My wife cut too deep. Now he won't give us his paws. Socialize him at a very young age and often. Don't worry about keeping them away from germs. It's rare. Let every person in the family handle them at a young age. Try to not let him get attached to one person.

Chows are some of the best guard dogs out there. Nobody takes them serious as guard dogs because of there almost comical appearance but they are called the lion dogs for a reason.
